On Saturday, May 22nd, Jonathan Guy and I decide to photograph the excursions that the Tennessee Valley Railway Museum is conducting on the Tennessee Ovehill Commission's "Hook & Eye" line, formerly operated by CSX/SBD/L&N. Passengers are bussed from parking lots in downtown Etowah, to the nearby Gee Creek Campground where they board the train. The train then follows the pathway of the Hiwassee River upstream to TVA's Hiwassee Powerhouse before returning. Unfortunately, the track condition beyond the TVA property has deteriorated to a condition that requires much more work before it can handle trains again, so the famous (or infamous, to some former train crews) loop north of Copperhill was not featured during these trips. Nonetheless, the scenery available more than makes up for this loss.
Below are some of the better images taken during two different days - the first batch of chase shots are from May 22nd; the second batch of onboard shots are from May 29th.
